The Caramel albino appearance is a tyrosinase-positive type of albinism,
similar to the red-albino mutation seen in blood pythons, and the albino
mutation seen in Kenyan sand boas. This mutation is most commonly referred to as the Caramel Albino, but also known as Xanthic, or T+.

This mutation was one of the first to be reproduced in captivity, and was
proven to be simple recessive by NERD. The caramel albino can be
characterised as having ruby red pupils with a yellow/orange body color and lavender/orange markings and while unable to create any melanin, T+ albinos do have some darker pigments then those seen on T- (Amelanistic) albinos. Typical of all snakes exhibiting this type of albinism the babies of the T+ albinos are darker as newborns and they become gradually paler as they mature.

Here at db Reptiles we feel incredibly fortunate to be working with a new
line of Caramel albino, which were purchased as hatchlings from Africa.

The caramel albino is truly a jaw dropping mutation, with a bright future in the royal python market, and here at db Reptiles, we cannot wait to start seeing the new designer morphs made with this outstanding mutation.
